Trust and why building trust is key.

Trust and why building trust is key.

Trust is important because it allows individuals and groups to build relationships, establish cooperation, and make decisions based on mutual understanding and confidence. Trust can lead to greater efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness in various contexts such as business, personal relationships, and society as a whole. Without trust, relationships and interactions can become strained, leading to increased conflict and decreased cooperation.

In the last couple of years, my car insurance went up from around $640 to about $1050. I had added a vehicle so a price increase was expected but that much seemed high. I called and at the time there wasn’t much they could do, due to inflation. After asking around I was told shopping for my insurance from other companies was the best way to save money.

Shopping commenced and a ton of time was wasted after multiple calls and holds I finally got a quote from State Farm that beat the price I was getting by about $40 every 6 months. With that, I weighed the time I spent shopping already, the amazing service I get from Progressive, and the fact when I call, I instantly get put on a call with someone in America I can clearly understand.

If someone wanted to steal my business, they possibly could have but they would have to make it seamless and a magnitude better for me to even consider. This should be a lesson for most businesses, if you want to take someone else’s client making things as easy for the transfer would benefit the process immensely.

Back to trust, I trust progressive and have never had anything but good experiences with them so $40 wasn’t nearly enough to sway me. Fast forward to last week and I got my new quote which came in at $840 which was about a 15% reduction. Confused I called because I thought they made a mistake and was told it was right. After talking briefly and them being glad I didn’t switch away they looked over my policy and also got another $30 reduction knocking it down to $810.

Much like I trusted them to provide me great service they trust I’m not going anywhere and provide me a great product in return. I’m more likely to work with someone I trust over a cheaper option most times in my life, and I think that can be a great lesson for most. Instead of spending so much time looking for the cheapest option work on building a relationship with the person you are dealing with.
