Time management, regrets come last
There’s a very popular quote that goes something like, “Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day; you and Elon Musk are allotted the same amount”. What a profound and idiotic thing to say. Time management isn’t the same.
What Elon Musk does with his time, and the average person does with theirs is wildly different. Time is a luxury that most working class does not have enough of. Sure, everyone has problems, but money eliminates so many, including time. Having the time to cook or wait in line for fast food is still an hour out of your day. Elon can arrive home and have a chef-prepared meal waiting for him. The rich just have a life set up to give them more time.
Time is so valuable because it’s not replaceable. Most people trade time for money which is a good way to start, but after you learn a little bit about finances you will find there are so many better ways to do so.
You can buy more time by making small changes. If you emulate successful people, you will notice a lot of small tweaks that make a huge financial difference. Meal prep, pre-set up wardrobes, a gym bag ready to go in the car, two is one, one is none. The list goes on and on, but you get the idea. Something I have struggled with, and I would imagine a ton of others have as well, is outsourcing. My time for my business is best spent in the field or doing sales. Yet there is billing, advertising, route setup, and so many other small day-to-day things.
Once I relinquished some control and outsourced, I found I had so much more time to do the part I make the most money at. Yes, it costs me money to outsource, but if I can make more money doing the things, I’m good at to free up time why wouldn’t I pay to have the things I’m not good at done for me?
I beg you to start valuing your time- from work, school, relationships, and Netflix. Putting time into things that prevent you from moving forward or things that don’t bring joy is seriously just a waste of the precious little time we have.
Scheduling is imperative to successful time management. For example, my schedule is to get up at 5 am on gym days, and 6:30 on non-gym days, and I plan my day in a way that my meals happen at the same time. It takes a lot of the rush and anxiety out of my day to stick to my schedule.
