The Power of Meditation

Clear your mind

The power of meditation has helped me greatly this week. Being able to rationalize my thoughts and clear my mind saved me this month. I received a hospital bill of around 20k and then learned I made about 20k less this year. On top of Christmas and other small matters, my mind was in a state of chaos.

My initial thoughts were why did this happen to me and how did I miss that I was so far behind? After being practical for a minute I realized that like many things life just happens it wasn’t a specific thing I could have done to change the outcome and instead of dwelling on the why move on to the How am I going to fix this? When I thought about the missed money, I realized it was more that I wasn’t paying attention to the money daily. People who have lost weight noted that if they got on the scale every day, they paid more attention to what they ate and their exercise and ended up losing more weight. Similarly, if you open your bank account daily you will pay more attention to money ebbing and flowing to get better control of it.

Throughout my drives this week I kept having crazy panicked thoughts and having to ask myself why I was having the thoughts, accept the thought then clear my mind to move it to a more productive place. I started meditating a few years ago and can say it is invaluable in helping clear chaos sometimes.
